Het werk werd grotendeels gecomponeerd tijdens een residentie in de Abdij van Averbode en krijgt vorm in verschillende muzikale gedaanten, elk bepaald door de uitvoerders en de plek.<\/span><\/p><p>De compositie werd geadapteerd voor verschillende ensembles en twee geluidsinstallaties:<\/p><ul><li class=\"translation-block\"><strong>Utopia Ensemble<\/strong> \u2014 mezzosopraan, countertenor, tenor, bariton en bas<\/li><li class=\"translation-block\"><strong>Dionysos Now!<\/strong> \u2014 twee countertenors, tenor, bariton en bas<\/li><li class=\"translation-block\"><strong>Liesbeth Devos &amp; Gwen Cresens<\/strong> \u2014 sopraan en accordeon<\/li><li class=\"translation-block\"><strong>BRYGGEN Bruges Strings<\/strong> \u2014 strijkorkest<\/li><li class=\"translation-block\"><strong>SPECTRA Ensemble<\/strong> \u2014 fluit en basfluit, klarinet, slagwerk, viool, altviool en cello<\/li><li class=\"translation-block\"><strong>ORLANDOviols<\/strong> \u2014 vijf viola da gamba\u2019s met elektronics<\/li><li class=\"translation-block\"><strong>Vlaams Radiokoor, onder leiding van Eric Whitacre<\/strong> \u2014 gemengd koor<\/li><li class=\"translation-block\"><strong>Momentum (in de Abdij van Averbode)<\/strong> \u2014 een immersieve geluidsinstallatie die het publiek uitnodigt om deel te nemen<\/li><li class=\"translation-block\"><strong>OPZ Geel<\/strong> \u2014 een flexibele geluidsinstallatie die zich ontwikkelde tot een participatieve muzikale ervaring met een groot koor van bewoners van het psychiatrisch ziekenhuis<\/li><\/ul><p><span style=\"font-family: Roboto, sans-serif; font-size: 14px; font-style: normal; font-variant-ligatures: normal; font-variant-caps: normal; font-weight: 400;\">In de kern staat een vloeiende melodie die het leven voorstelt, begeleid door een muzikaal motief opgebouwd rond een grote en een kleine terts, dat de waarheid in haar verschillende gedaanten symboliseert. Naarmate deze elementen elkaar doorheen de compositie ontmoeten, bewegen ze zich geleidelijk naar een eenvoudige bevestiging van het bestaan: wij zijn. Een tekst van Lieze Denckens reflecteert over stilte, waarheid en liefde en nodigt luisteraars uit om samen stil te staan en het huidige moment te beleven.<\/span><\/p><p class=\"translation-block\">Doorheen deze verschillende gedaanten evolueerde <i>before we begin\u2026 <\/i>voortdurend en cre\u00eberde het nieuwe verbindingen tussen muziek, ruimte en mensen, met
