The work was largely composed during a residency at the Abbey of Averbode and unfolds in different musical forms, each shaped by its performers and setting.<\/span><\/p><p>The composition was adapted for different ensembles and two sound installations:<\/p><ul><li><strong>Utopia Ensemble<\/strong> \u2014 mezzo-soprano, countertenor, tenor, baritone and bass<\/li><li><strong>Dionysos Now!<\/strong> \u2014 two countertenors, tenor, baritone and bass<\/li><li><strong>Liesbeth Devos &amp; Gwen Cresens<\/strong> \u2014 soprano and accordion<\/li><li><strong>BRYGGEN Bruges Strings<\/strong> \u2014 string orchestra<\/li><li><strong>SPECTRA Ensemble<\/strong> \u2014 flute and bass flute, clarinet, percussion, violin, viola and cello<\/li><li><strong>ORLANDOviols<\/strong> \u2014 five viols with electronics<\/li><li><strong>Flemish Radio Choir, conducted by Eric Whitacre<\/strong> \u2014 mixed choir<\/li><li><strong>Momentum (in Abbey of Averbode)<\/strong> \u2014 an immersive sound installation inviting audience participation<\/li><li><strong>OPZ Geel<\/strong> \u2014 a flexible sound installation developed into a participatory musical experience with a large choir of residents of the psychiatric hospital<\/li><\/ul><p><span style=\"font-family: Roboto, sans-serif; font-size: 14px; font-style: normal; font-variant-ligatures: normal; font-variant-caps: normal; font-weight: 400;\">At its core lies a flowing melody, representing life, accompanied by a musical motif built around a major and a minor third, symbolising truth in its different forms. As these elements encounter one another throughout the composition, they gradually move towards a simple affirmation of being: we are. A text by Lieze Denckens reflects on silence, truth and love, inviting listeners to pause and experience the present moment together.<\/span><\/p><p>Across these different incarnations, <i>before we begin\u2026 <\/i>continually evolved, creating new connections between music, space and people while retaining its underlying musical identity.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div
